EDT (Essential Driver Training)

Complete your mandatory 12 Essential Driver Training lessons with our qualified instructors. We cover all modules to ensure you meet the required standards for your driving test.

EDT for learner drivers is a 12-hour course delivered in 12 one-hour sessions.

It is recommended that you allow two weeks between each session so that you can take further driving instruction, practise your new-found skills and do the required road safety reading.

Your Instructor will give you a logbook in which your sessions and progress will be recorded, as well as online in your MyEDT account on the RSA website.

You will need your learner permit card for all your sessions.

As a learner driver, you must complete all 12 EDT sessions before you can sit a driving test.

Your Instructor will plan each EDT session to achieve the expected outcomes and will provide you with both verbal and written feedback at the end of each session.

EDT is just part of your driver training. You will need to get more driving experience by taking further instruction and practicing what you have learned in EDT until your Instructor confirms you’re ready to take the driving test.

If you are eligible for reduced EDT you can book our 6 Lesson bundle.

Parent or Sponsor

When learning to drive, having someone to practice with, helps you get test ready much quicker and cheaper than professional instruction. But is that sponsor passing on their bad habits?

At BrayZen we offer a sponsored driver’s lesson, where we will guide and help the sponsor through the practicalities of helping a learner. The sponsored drive can be done in their car, and we will give them plenty of tips and hints to help learner pass the first time.

Sponsors must hold a full car driving licence for at least two years but more importantly should have lots of driving experience.

At BrayZen we believe a partnership of learning between student, instructor and sponsor will help achieve driving goals much faster.

This one hour session is designed not to grade or judge your driving but help and support you in getting your/our student test ready.

To get the most from driving lessons, a student must practise, practise, practise and the best person to do this with is your Sponsor.

Hourly lessons

Tailored hourly sessions designed to fit your schedule and focus on specific areas you want to improve, from manoeuvres to advanced road awareness and test preparation.

Did you know that to pass the Irish driving test you don’t need to know how to reverse into a bay for parking – the only bay parking you will do on your test is at the very end! What if you need to parallel park or reverse into a shopping bay?

Learning to drive for the test is relatively easy! – we know the routes. But driving to work or college is what most of us do in our cars, how well are you able to negotiate that familiar route?

Did you know that you can pass your test and get a full license without ever having driven on a Motorway? Learning how to join, exit and drive on motorways makes you and our roads safer for everyone.

Hourly Lessons are a great way for you to top up your knowledge or focus on specific skills you need to improve.
